Computer Problem Busters is a family-owned business in St. Louis. We’ve been around since the 1990’s and if you scroll below you’ll see all the different ways we can help you. But we realize when it comes to help with technology, people have many options. So we’ve worked hard over the years to develop and maintain an excellent reputation. That goes beyond technical know-how. We treat each of our customers with the dignity and respect they deserve. We realize that we live in stressful times and a problematic computer doesn't help alleviate that stress. So to be very clear, we don’t just fix computers. We want to become your trusted adviser when it comes to matters of technology and cultivate a relationship with you. We are here to help you! When there’s a problem with your computer it’s pretty nice to know that you have a friend in the business who can help - a lot better than approaching a stranger, hoping and praying everything will go right. So when you need us, please reach out. We will do everything in our power to make sure that you’re glad you did!

Whether you're locked out of your computer, the thing won't start up, you forgot the password to get into it, the hard drive crashed, or something else has happened that prevents you from accessing your important files, we can help. People often save very important files that they cannot bear the thought of losing. They're sometimes on their computers or external hard drives, and sooner or later the time comes when those files cannot be accessed. These might be pictures, documents, tax information, music, videos, or a variety of other things, but whatever they are, just because you can't access them, you do not need to give up hope. We are not the kind of shop that exclusively does data recovery, and while those places are excellent, they charge insane amounts of money. On the other hand, we are pretty versed at it and likely the best non-exclusive data recovery experts in the midwest. So it makes sense to come to us before you consider a place that exclusively does data recovery. It could mean the difference between paying hundreds and thousands of dollars. If you're in this tough spot, before you lose hope, give us a call.
Just about every computer repair shop talks about virus removal as part of their repertoire. That's nice, but inadequate. When viruses or other types of malware strike, their existence is not the problem - it's the cause of the problem. The Windows operating system (or less frequently MacOS) becomes damaged. Simply removing the virus does nothing. It has already delivered its payload. It is necessary to determine the damage that has been caused and if possible reverse it. Often this cannot be done and the only feasible option is a wipe and reload of the operating system, which we can do with or without saving your important files. Many people have had viruses removed by a company and complained that their computer still was not working right. They were absolutely right to complain and now you know why. If you've been hit with malware, we will determine what it takes to get your computer working properly again. Just give us a call.
Gone are the days when seniors completely shy away from technology. They want to keep up with their families but they have no idea what Snapchat and Instagram are, and while they're still getting the hang of Facebook, their grandchildren are joking about how Facebook is only for "old people" and "texting isn't fast enough". We may not understand teenagers any better than you do, but we know how to work the technology they use and want to use to communicate with you. So if you haven't yet sent your first email, we can help you. If you know that you can Kik your grandchildren and that is NOT a form of child abuse, but rather the only way that you can get them to talk to you, but you're struggling to use the app, we can help you. Most seniors fall somewhere between those two examples. No matter what your level of expertise is, we would love to help you.
There are many great products on the market that help people with various disabilities get the most out of technology, but the learning curve can be steep and frustrating. Sometimes a little extra time and care and compassion is all that's required, but expertise combined with patience is definitely a plus. We have helped many people with a variety of disabilities accomplish things that they never could do before. If you or someone you know has a disability and a need for help with technology, please feel free to call us.
We live in overwhelming times when it comes to technology. There are so many "bad guys" out there, that just about everything we do has to be secured. That means user names and passwords galore, and how are we supposed to keep track of all of them when this one says you can't use special characters and that one says exactly eight characters including a special character? The smartest of us can't keep track of everything, so people write them down on notepads, but never update them, or they use software designed for this purpose, which is not as secure as you might think. So there are options, but what is the best option for you? We can help you with this. We can do anything from helping you recover or reset a password to devising a system that works for you so that you can easily keep track of all your passwords. Call us and find out how we can help.
Many people come in with a broken laptop. Sometimes, it won't start up. Sometimes the DVD drive doesn't work. Sometimes the whole laptop is getting no power. Sometimes it starts but they can't sign in. Sometimes the screen is cracked. It doesn't matter what's wrong with it. We can fix it. The fact is that there are cases where they are not worth fixing, but surprisingly, they often are. If you have a broken laptop, give us a call and we can discuss whether it's worth bringing it in to us.
Sometimes there's nothing wrong with your computer but you just haven't used it in a while and it has you locked out. We can often help you break through that barrier. Call and find out how.
If you are moving into a new home or your business is moving to a new location, or if you are upgrading your computers in your existing home or business, you probably don't want to blindly throw money at technology in the hopes that things will go better. Your best bet is to put a plan - sometimes a fairly simple plan into place. We can help you with the planning process setting your expectations, based on your choices and we can help you execute the plan. No matter how limited or extensively you would like our help, it makes sense to consult with us when you are about to make a change. You'll know where it makes sense to spend your money and what kinds of results you can expect. Call us to set up an appointment.
Wouldn't it be nice if your computer at home and computer at work and smart phone and tablet all played nicely together? You have someone's contact information at home but not on your phone, or the calendar on your work computer holds information you need when you're at home, but you don't have access to the same things wherever you are and have to be at the right place and the right time to see what you should be able to see wherever you are. Some people don't have this issue and everything is right at their fingertips. You could be one of these people and it's not as hard to do as you might think. Interested? Call us and find out how easy it is.
Here's a big topic. Backups are the thing everyone tells all of us to do and few of us actually bother with it. Some of us don't know how to and many of us don't make it a big priority. Some people are under the misconception that you can plug in an external hard drive and magically it will back up whatever you want it to back up. The bottom line is it doesn't have to be complex, but it's not a completely simple thing either and computers do not automatically back themselves up. We can provide you with anything from an elite solution that we offer all the way down to a bare bones just back up the absolutely critical stuff type of solution. Whatever your needs are, we can help you with backups. Call to see how.
Often, people purchase a new program for their computer or an app for their smartphone and really struggle to get the hang of how to use it. We are certainly not experts on everything out there, but we're pretty good at all the mainstream stuff. We are also completely honest about our expertise. If we feel we can't help you, we will refer you to someone who can. We maintain relationships with trainers outside of our company who specialize in various programs and apps. So if you're having a hard time and want help, you know what to do. Call us and let's discuss your options.
There are so many things that people do with their computers, tablets and smartphones that it would be a monumental task to detail all the ways we have helped people. But if you are having a problem, whether it is big or small, or have a need or want to leverage your technology device to a fuller potential, call us. We will listen to what you have to say, discuss what the options are, and offer solutions that best fit your needs.
Talk to us during business hours or leave a message after hours. We'll get you on the schedule, bring your equipment in, and enjoy our lowest priced option! Pay a hardware/software diagnostic fee upon checking in your computer and we will get back to you with the results of the diagnostics, options, recommendations, and pricing for anything we discuss.
This option is very similar to the Schedule It & Come In option, but for an additional fee, based on your location, we can schedule a time to pick up your computer and when the work is complete, a time to drop it off to you. We do NOT give you a time window in which we will be there, but instead, we agree to a specific time. If we are going to be late, we ALWAYS will call to make sure it's still convenient for you.
While this is our most expensive option, it is often the only choice. For example, if you have a problem with multiple computers being able to print or connect to the Internet, bringing one or more to us will not solve the problem. Other times, people prefer that we come to them rather than bringing their equipment to our shop. We will always try to offer you the most appropriate choice for your circumstance.
In certain cases we can remotely connect to your computer to resolve a problem or help with a question. Please call to schedule an appointment. Prior to the appointment time, please visit https://get.teamviewer.com/cpbsupport and follow the prompts.
